Applying to become a Volunteer Counsellor

Before putting in an application to become a Volunteer Counsellor with Care To Listen do take a moment to read Train With Us and Your Career Pathway so you will know what to expect from a placement at Care To Listen.

We are always happy to accept applications from experienced counsellors (minimum of 60 client hours), looking for voluntary positions throughout the year. We can offer an immediate start for the right counsellor on our IAPTS team. If you are interested in gaining NHS counselling experience please email or have any questions about making an application please contact Lisa or Eve directly.

We will accept applications from volunteer counsellors looking for a first, or maybe second, placement. We hold recruitment sessions at various times throughout the year depending on vacancies arising.

Our counsellors tend to stay with us for some time so vacancies can be quite few and far between, having said that we will always find room for the right counsellor who fits the Care To Listen profile.

Care To Listen was my first placement and I have stayed for with them for 3 years now. I value the support I was given throughout my training, I’ve worked with a real variety of clients and feel I have grown as a counsellor because of it. Care To Listen are a really well run organisation and an ideal placement for trainee counsellors.
